BA Boys advance to title game, girls fall to CBA E-mail
The Bulloch Academy boys advanced to the Region title game knocking off Robert Toombs 64-62 as Taylor Burke's bucket with 2 seconds left proved to be the game winner. In the girls semifinal match-up Bulloch Academy fell to Curtis Baptist 38-23.

NCAA hands down basketball penaties to GSU E-mail
The NCAA finally handed down sanctions to the men's basketball program for academic fraud. Georgia Southern was found guilty of "major violations" regarding academic fraud during the 2007-08 basketball season. GSU has been forced to vacate all wins from the 07-08 and 08-09 seasons during which 2 players found guilty of academic fraud participated. In addition the Eagles lose 1 scholarship for each of the next 2 years and are limited in the number of recruiting visits.

Despite winning the 2nd half 5-0 the Georgia Southern Eagles were unable to overcome giving up a school record 42 points in the 1st half and fell to North Carolina 42-12 Saturday in Chapel Hill NC. The Eagles commitetd 4 first half turnovers 2 of which were returned for touchdowns as GSU falls to 3-3 overall and remains 2-1 in conference play.

GSU rebounds with 27-3 win over WCU E-mail
The Georgia Southern Eagles rebounded nicely from their 44-6 loss to South Dakota State with an impressive 27-3 win over Western Carolina. GSU was led offensivly by Adam Urbano with 78 yards rushing and 77 yards receiving while the Eagle defense allowed a total of -6 yards rushing and kept the Catamounts out of the end zone all night as they improve to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play.

SHS Shuts out Thomson 13-0 E-mail
Playing in less than ideal weather conditions at The Brickyard the Statesboro Blue Devils took advantage of 4 2nd half Thomson turnovers in beating the Bulldogs 13-0. Aaron Lester returned from an injury to score one touchdown while Lamar Stimage continued to play with a painful turf toe and scored as well as Statesboro improves to 3-1 on the season.

The Georgia Southern Eagles used a total team efforet in knotching their 1st win of the season Saturday at Paulson Stadium. The Eagles scored on offense, defense and on special teams, Adrian Mora secured the win with a career high 44 yard field goal with less than a minute to play for the 29=26 win.

Even without the services of last weeks offensive star Lamar Stimage, who was out with turf toe, the Statesboro Blue Devils blew past Groves 44-0 improving to 2-0 on the season. Aron Lester scored twice and Morris Prince added 3 touchdowns in pacing the Blue Devil offense.

The Georgia Southern volleyball is pulling out all the stops this season giving their all on and off the court. In an effort to help put fans in the seats they have been holding clinics at vrious clubs and schools and are even going door to door handing out schedule cards and encouraging people of the Statesboro community to come to games this year, or attend their free clinic Saturday from 1-3 at Hanner Fieldhouse.
