January 8 Entry
Written by Josh

A quick apology for the lack of entries. I've thought that if I didn't have anything real important to talk about that I shouldn't put anything here, but after looking at other blogs I guess it doesn't always have to be a life changing moment to share. I hope everyone had a merry Christmas and a happy new year.

My 8 year old son Jordan and I had quite an experience over the break. We were invited to join Nate Hirsch and his daughter Jennifer to go to Atlanta for a Hawks game. Nate is good friends with Joe Tait, the voice of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Whenever Joe comes to Atlanta Nate and Jennifer go and visit with him and have also become friendly with a few of the Cav's players.

We went and had lunch with Joe and then took him back to the hotel where he and the players were staying. We went into the lobby and shortly there after the buses came to pick up Joe and the players and coaches to take them to the game. I was surprised that we were the only ones in the lobby and there weren't a lot of autograph seekers around.

The players started trickeling down and were actually quite friendly. Nate and Jennifer have become pretty close with one player in particular, 7'3'' center Zydrunas Ilgauskas, or Z as they call him. After meeting him I understand why they like him so much, he was so down to earth (surprising for a 7 footer) and friendly. Most of the players posed for pictures and then just before the buses were scheduled to leave down came LeBron James. My son doesn't follow the NBA too much but he does know who LeBron is. He came down the stairs quickly and caught us a little off guard. Jennifer asked him to take a picture with Jordan, he came up and said "How's it going little fella?" I took a quick picture but of all the times, the flash didn't go off and I missed it. Iromic for someone who does this kind of thing for a living.

We then went to the game and were lucky enough to sit in the VIP section thanks to Joe and Nate and their connections. Jordan was very impressed. I haven't been to an NBA game in years and was pleasantly surprised by the event it has become, even in Atlanta. We walked right past former Falcon and Brave player Brian Jordan and were sitting near R&B artist Usher and rap singer Ludacris.

They had a wheel of fortune prize giveaway while we were there and Jordan won 2 tickets to an Atlanta Thrashers game. I just hope he doesn't think we are going to get to meet the players before the game and sit in the VIP section for that one.

Will try and do this again soon - Josh
