Parting shot
Written by Josh

Not meaning to beat a dead horse but I just wanted to put a little closure to the VanGorder departure.

When I heard he was the new coach I was optimistic. It seemed as though he had a pretty impressive resume and with the kind of money he was getting it looked as though he may be successfull. A couple hours after meeting him I started having my doubts.

From the press conference on he seemed a little too arrogant and eager to do away with many Eagle traditions. I was still willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, but slowly through time all he did was push me and other media members farther and farther away and it seemed as though he did much the same with many Eagle fans.

I can put up with a bit of arrogance as many times it comes with being a head coach. I can't put up with being constantly talked down to and treated unprofessionally and anyone who saw Dal's interview on WTOC finally knows what I had to deal with all year long. Leaving Georgia Southern high and dry 2 weeks before signing day after repeatedly stating he had a vsison for the program speaks volumes.

Well, after BVG anyone would have been an improvement from my perspective. Imagine my delight in hearing Chris Hatcher's press conference. I wanted to go up and hug him after hearing his opinion of the value of the media and his willingness to work with us.

Here's hoping Coach Hatcher's work on the playing field is half as good as his work in the PR department.
